THE TALE Penn State landed its third commitment of the weekend, this time it’s 4-star edge Cortez Harris. Harris committed right after his official visit, and picked between the Lions, Maryland, and Tennessee. Harris becomes the 17th commitment of the 2025 class, after the shuffling of the week saw two players leave Penn State for other schools. Don’t be surprised if this isn’t the last commitment of the month, as James Franklin and the staff looks to button up the class heading into the dead period. OUTLOOK Harris will need to spend time adding some bulk before he’s ready to become an edge rusher in the Big Ten. Fortunately, he still has time to grow and develop during his senior season before officially joining the team at some point in 2025. An early enrollment could be majorly beneficial for him to get an early start in the strength and conditioning program which has helped many Nittany Lions go from undersized prospects to well-developed athletes who have the measurables well-desired by the NFL. Harris’ offer sheet makes it obvious he has mounds of potential to be excited about. His explosiveness should help him follow in line of many recent standout edge rushers at Penn State, including some who are now among the best at their position in the NFL. He may need some time to bulk up and get acclimated, but it shouldn’t be too long before he’s bringing down Big Ten quarterbacks.
