Olu Fashanu and Chop Robinson Selected as AP All-Americans

Image Photo by Randy Litzinger/Icon Sportswire via Getty Images Two Nittany Lions received the major honor after standout seasons in 2023. Two Nittany Lions have achieved the honor of AP All-Americans for their performances during the 2023 season. Offensive tackle Olu Fashanu was selected as a first-team All-American, while defensive end Chop Robinson was named to the third team. Fashanu joined Penn State as a three-star prospect in the 2020 class. While he did not play as a true freshman during the COVID-shortened season, he soon developed into a dominant force at tackle. In his three years on the field, Fashanu did not allow a single sack and was a vital piece of the offenses lead by Sean Clifford and Drew Allar. Fashanu, who is listed at 6’6’’ and 317 lbs., is often projected as a top five overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft and the first offensive lineman to be selected. Fashanu became the first first-team All-American since Micah Parsons in 2019, and is the 102nd player to be selected as first-team All-American in program history. Robinson came to Penn State via the transfer portal after spending his true freshman season at Maryland. He quickly became one of the most dominant pass rushers in program history during his two seasons as a Nittany Lion. Robinson’s impact went far beyond his stat sheet, as team’s often gameplaned around his ability to easily get past blockers and straight into the backfield. He was a major factor in Penn State’s ability to oftentimes shut down opposing offenses and make them one-dimensional (and sometimes zero-dimensional if we want to get technical). Robinson finished the 2023 season with four sacks, 7.5 TFLs, 15 tackles, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery in 10 games. Robinson, also a projected first round pick, has announced his plans to enter the 2024 NFL Draft and will forgo the Peach Bowl. Fashanu has yet to announce his plans, although he is widely expected to head to the NFL considering his projected draft status. Congratulation, Olu and Chop!
