Image IG: timfanning510 BYU basketball hired an assistant coach with extensive international and high school experience as Tim Fanning was added to Kevin Young’s staff. Fanning was on the Delaware 87ers staff under Kevin Young in the G-League a decade ago. He recently was on BYU campus helping Kevin Young with the BYU Fathers and Sons camp. Fanning was recently the head coach for one of the teams at Overtime Elite, a league for 16-20-year-olds based in Atlanta. Overtime Elite is home to some of the top high school prospects in the country. Just in the 2024 class on Fanning’s Cold Hearts team, he coached three 4-star recruits (Kanon Catchings, John Bol, Trey Parker) that signed to play at Power 5 schools. He also coached Ausar and Amen Thompson — both of whom were top 5 picks in the 2023 NBA Draft — and Alex Sarr in 2022-2023, who is the projected #1 pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. Shout-out to the folks at @OvertimeElite – particularly coach Tim Fanning (@coach_team) – on the elite development @alexandresarr_ has experienced over the past two seasons. He’s been well prepared for this next level as an NBL Next Star, as he skyrockets towards the NBA Draft. https://t.co/RJVkAQs9Oc— Liam Santamaria (@Liam_Santa) September 13, 2023

  • Delaware 87ers, Assistant Coach/Video Coordinator — 2013-2014

In addition to his recent high school experience, Fanning has deep international ties and is renowned for his player development. Fanning coached former BYU player Elijah Bryant at Tel Aviv in the Euro League and has developed international ties that BYU will tap into as they continue to recruit internationally, specifically in Europe after the commitment of Egor Demin. Fanning can flat out coach and has an incredible resume of players he has helped develop into top NBA picks. In addition to the above players, he is lauded for helping Wizards forward Deni Avdija develop into a top 10 NBA pick during their time in Tel-Aviv.
