He has racked up offers from several Power 5 universities, such as Arizona State, Oregon State, Tennessee, and Washington State, along with a handful of G5 programs as well. In September, he announced his Top 5 schools, which included Arizona, BYU, Cal, Utah, and Washington, having taken official visits to four of the five programs. Tupou played at Palo Alto High School in Palo Alto, California. Standing at 6-foot-6 and weighing 290 pounds, he towered over his competition. According to MaxPreps, he appeared in 33 games for the Vikings and put players on their backs 97 times (I was not aware they kept track of pancake blocks). After watching the 2023 BYU football season unfold, it became abundantly clear that the Cougars are in need of change on the offensive line. They kicked off the change when they dismissed offensive line coach Darrel Funk. After the coach comes the players, and Tupou is going to be part of that change for the Cougars. With the potential of having four starters leave the program next season, the offensive line will be younger and less experienced. Tupou will have an opportunity to come in and make an impact right away. In his announcement, he said he will be signing with the Cougars on early signing day (December 20th) and will be arriving in Provo next summer. Tupou is the 15th commit in the 2024 class and the second-highest-rated offensive commitment after tight end Ryner Swanson.
