Image Rob Gray-USA TODAY Sports After hitting 14 in last week’s AP Poll, BYU stumbled but remained ranked at 18 in the latest AP Poll released Monday. Six Big 12 teams are in the top 20 and Utah remained on the outside but received 25 votes. BYU’s loss to Utah moved them to 8-1 on the season, and the metrics continue to remain high on the Cougars. As of Monday, BYU is ranked 3 in NET, 8 in KenPom, and 13 in ESPN’s BPI. BYU has four remaining non-conference games before starting Big 12 play January 6 versus Cincinnati. BYU should be big favorites in all four games — KenPom currently favors BYU by 20+ points in all four. Things get started this Wednesday when BYU hosts Denver before welcoming Georgia State to the Marriott Center Saturday. Denver is 6-4 on the year while Georgia State is 4-5. BYU ends non-conference play by hosting Bellarmine December 22 and Wyoming December 30. A 12-1 finish to non-conference play would set BYU up to make a run at a NCAA Tournament bid before a daunting Big 12 slate.
