Social media reacts to 'Horns Down' absence in 'College Football 25'

EA Sports College Football 25 is set to make its return to video game consoles next month for the first time in a decade. The fanfare and buzz is building and as EA Sports attempts to generate increased excitement, they’ve released teasers and more details ahead of its launch. On Tuesday, EA Sports released its top 25 most difficult stadiums to play in with the Sooners coming in at No. 8. On Wednesday, the company released a list of hand signs that will be included in the details of the game. The Athletic’s Chris Vannini reported that one feature that’s become a staple of college football won’t be included. “Horns Down.” I’ve been told that Horns Down will NOT be in the video game.

Only hand signals for your own team.— Chris Vannini (@ChrisVannini) June 26, 2024https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.jsIt seems a fairly simple code that could be included that any opponent playing Texas could use “Horns Down.” But, as it was in the Big 12, the designers of EA Sports are protecting the delicate sensibilities of Longhorns fans. Because the SEC has provided some context on what is considered unsportsmanlike conduct, there’s a chance you’ll see “Horns Down” when Texas is on the field, so long as it’s not directed at the team in a taunting fashion. College football fans took to social media to react to the news in a way that only college football fans can.
