Packers vs. Giants won’t be flexed

Image Photo by Stu Forster/Getty Images You can write it in ink: The Packers will play Monday Night Football in Week 14. The question now is what happens in Week 17. The Green Bay Packers and New York Giants have combined for a 9-14 record this season, but that won’t stop the NFL from putting two of its biggest brands on national television. Thursday marked the final date that the league could have moved around the Packers vs. Giants Week 14 Monday Night Football matchup, per the new NFL flex scheduling rules. That deadline has now come and gone. As a reminder, the NFL is allowed to flex any Monday Night Football game from Week 12 to Week 17 under their new broadcast agreement, which will almost certainly ruffle the feathers of fans who planned on making a trip to games in the final two months of the regular season. The league announced that they will flex a game off Monday Night Football today, though, it is a Week 15 game: the Philadelphia Eagles vs. Seattle Seahawks replacing the Kansas City Chiefs vs. New England Patriots. Eagles vs Seahawks might be of interest to Packers fans, who are keeping an eye on the Seahawks and Minnesota Vikings — the two lowest-ranked teams in the NFC standings that would also hold a wildcard spot in the playoffs if the season ended today. At least for now, the Packers’ schedule is holding up. Now that Week 14 has been written in ink, the next game to look at is Week 17 on New Year’s Eve against the Vikings in Minnesota. Right now, that game is scheduled to be on Sunday Night Football, but who knows if that holds up considering how volatile the Packers’ and Vikings’ seasons look at the moment. Green Bay also doesn’t have a kickoff time in Week 18 against the Chicago Bears, as the league tries to keep the final week of the season open due to the fluidity of the playoff race down the stretch.
