Packers’ 2024 schedule features 5 prime time games and Week 10 bye

Image Photo by Stacy Revere/Getty Images Green Bay welcomes the Miami Dolphins to Lambeau Field on Thanksgiving and has just one set of back-to-back road games. Here’s a look at the full schedule. It’s finally here. Start making your travel plans, Green Bay Packers fans, because the team’s schedule for the 2024 season has finally arrived. The Packers’ season opener was no surprise on schedule release day, as their date against the Philadelphia Eagles in Brazil was announced several weeks ago. That game will kick off on the Friday of week 1, a new and unusual time slot for an NFL game. However, despite Sao Paulo being one hour ahead of Eastern Time, the game will kick off at a conventional 8:15 PM Eastern/7:15 PM Central time. Week two will find the Packers holding their home opener against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday afternoon. That game takes place one day after the Wisconsin Badgers host the Alabama Crimson Tide, making for a potentially thrilling weekend in football for those who are fans of both programs. Alternating between home and away games continues through the first six weeks, with games at Tennessee, home against the Vikings, and at the Rams carrying Green Bay into mid-October. The Packers have their first two-game homestand in Weeks 6 and 7, when they host the Arizona Cardinals and Houston Texans. They then head into a Week 10 bye after playing on the road in Jacksonville and hosting the defending NFC North champion Detroit Lions. A Sunday afternoon game in Chicago coming out of the bye sets up the Packers for their toughest — but perhaps most exciting — stretch of the season in weeks 12-14. During a 12-day span, the Packers will host the San Francisco 49ers on a Sunday, then get another home game against the Miami Dolphins that comes on Thanksgiving night. Seven days later, they will play the Detroit Lions on Thursday Night Football at Ford Field to cap off a tough set of games. In the season’s home stretch, the Packers will travel to Seattle on Sunday Night Football in week 15 before returning home for a Monday Night Football matchup with the New Orleans Saints. Green Bay will then close out the season with rematches against division opponents, first on the road in Minnesota and then at home against the Chicago Bears to finish the regular season. This schedule has a handful of oddities. In particular, the Packers have just one prime-time game in the first 12 weeks of the season (Week 1), but then they are scheduled for four straight night games from Week 13 to Week 16. However, there are some significant positives to read into the layout of this schedule. Thankfully, the Packers have no road trips of more than two weeks at a time, and the only stretch of back-to-back road games (also in that same stretch, during Weeks 14 and 15) comes on a long week after a Thursday night game. Additionally, The NFL’s schedule rotation gives NFC teams 9 home games this season, and the Packers did not need to forfeit one to play in Brazil as it is officially a home game for the Eagles. Green Bay also gets the apparent benefit of a mid-season bye week, nicely dividing the schedule into a first “half” of 9 games and a second half of 8. And finally, three of the Packers’ last four home games come against warm-weather opponents, with the 49ers, Dolphins, and Saints all visiting Lambeau Field on or after November 24th.
