On Monday, the Green Bay Packers announced that their Family Night event — a practice at Lambeau Field — will be held on Saturday, August 3rd. So if you want a chance to get your first look at defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley’s 4-3 defense at Lambeau Field, there’s your date. Family Night will be held the weekend before the Packers’ preseason opener against the Cleveland Browns on August 10th. Green Bay will only be hosting one preseason game this summer, the preseason finale against the Baltimore Ravens on August 24th, so this is your chance to get an extra look at the team before the bullets are live. According to the Packers’ press release, the practice will begin at 7:30 p.m. CT and will be broadcast on the Packers TV Network stations. This means that if you’re in Wisconsin, Iowa, Alaska, Sioux Falls or Duluth, you’ll have the opportunity to watch the practice from the comfort of your own home. Typically, the Packers run individual and team periods during this practice on top of head-to-head situations like a third down period and a two-minute drill. Both the first-team and reserve units get opportunities on Family Night. If you happen to miss Family Night, there are going to be other good-on-good practices that the Packers will be participating in this summer. Head coach Matt LaFleur has already stated that the team will have joint practices with the Denver Broncos and the Baltimore Ravens this summer, leading up to their preseason games. The Broncos joint practice will be in Denver — good luck on that elevation — and the Ravens practice will be in Green Bay. Summer practices could be much more important in 2024, as the entire NFL is going to have to adjust to the new kickoff rules that attempt to incentivize more returns for bored audiences tired of watching touchbacks.
