Photo by Michael Owens/Getty Images Yup, it’s time to talk about the draft. The Seattle Seahawks are no longer in a playoff spot following their own defeat to the Dallas Cowboys and wins by both the Green Bay Packers and Los Angeles Rams. Given the schedules of the wild card contenders involved, it’s more likely than not that Seattle won’t return to a postseason spot even temporarily. But if you like the NFL Draft, this is great news for you! Because now we can talk about draft positioning in Round 1. If the season were to end today, the Seahawks would sit at No. 16 overall, one spot below the Denver Broncos. Tankathon is trustworthy and I trust them to be accurate. This screenshot is exclusively for non-playoff teams, since their positions will not be dependent on playoff outcomes: Seattle’s second-round pick is——oh no. Anyway, with the Denver Broncos sitting at 6-6 and now in a perilous playoff position after Sunday’s loss to the Houston Texans, their third-round pick would go to the Seahawks by virtue of having a better record than the New Orleans Saints. Denver’s third-rounder sits at No. 81 in the pecking order, while the Seahawks are at No. 78 since tiebreakers aren’t applicable after Round 1. If you’re so minded to think the Seahawks lose these next two against the San Francisco 49ers and Philadelphia Eagles, then it’s not impossible for Seattle to go from 6-3 to picking in the outer edge of the top-10.
